Welcome to the Centre for Health and Social Care Research
The CHSCR brings together health professionals, medical and social scientists from across the Faculty to provide high quality research for the benefit of patients, health care practitioners and students.
Our research is organised under four main themes.
- Learning, Teaching and Scholarship of Health
- Applications of Technology to Health Care
- Professional Practice and Organisational Development in Health
- Applied Medical and Health Sciences
Each theme is very diverse and may range from applied research in patient and service user care and treatment, to understanding ways of developing the practice of health professionals. We have a strong focus on the educational development of both our students and practice- based colleagues. We also contribute to the translation of laboratory based medical science into applied patient care.
CHSCR is linked to the Centre for Community Mental Health (CCMH) which works to improve services and life opportunities for people with severe and enduring mental health problems. The Centre concentrates on tackling social exclusion and the development of innovative approaches to service provision through training, education and research.
CHSCR has a strong commitment to knowledge transfer and we are working on many projects in collaboration with Health services, local hospitals, industrial partners and other Universities both nationally and internationally.
External researchers wishing to undertake research in the Faculty of Health are advised to contact the Centre for Health and Social Care Research office Jaspreet.Bhogal@bcu.ac.uk or Rosela.Bryant@bcu.ac.uk
